Photo Assignment #7

~ My Best Photo ~
ISO: 100
SHutter Speed: 1/180
Aperture: 2.6

This is my best photo because I loved how it caught the snow falling and how everything was just covered in snow. This was the day that we were supposed to have a "snow day".  If I had a second chance at the shot I would probably have backed up a little.

Photo Assignment #6

~ My Best Photo ~
ISO: 80
Shutter Speed: 1/50
Aperture: 4.0

This was my best photo because Midas, my neighbor's dog, has such a funny personality and always acts like a puppy. I loved the colors in this picture and how I actually caught him standing still. It was fun to watch him run around through the field and woods too. The rest of these photos are of my dog Ego. He is much more calm except when he sees a squirrel - he goes into the "hunting" mode. So funny!

Photography Assignment #5

~My Best Photo~
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/30
Aperture: F 8.0

At around 6PM there was a gorgeous sunset, so I went outside and took a bunch of pictures. I chose this one as my best because I liked the silhouette of the houses and trees, the gradual black to blue in the sky, and the cool yellowy, orange and fiery swirl right above the houses.

Photo Assignment #4

~My Best Photo~

ISO: 80
F 2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/10

For this assignment,  I was at the Peer to Peer Depression Awareness meeting and we all had to write on a giant post-it note a bunch of things people say when they are down whether out loud or to themselves. I loved the vibrant colors of the post-it notes on the black walls of the Drama lab.  This is my best photo because I liked that the "I wish I could be better" is the main focus and al the colors and notes just seem to go on forever from there. I think the bright colors contrast the sad mood those sayings bring and over all I thought this was a neat angle/idea.

Panoramic Assignment

Panoramic Assignment

In this assignment I learned how to use different tools in Photoshop and how to put the pictures together to make a panoramic. I loved watching the ideas in my head come to life. This was such a neat assignment and I will definitely be doing a panoramic for one of my other projects. My favorite one is probably the second picture because I loved how the tree was the main focus and how the curves of the lake and road all swirl together through the whole picture. I think it really turned out.

Photo assignment #3

~Best Photo~
Shutter Speed: 1/500
Aperture: F 8
ISO: 80

For this assignment I chose to use my baby brother's first steps and my church's Mock Prom as my "event". I chose this picture of my baby brother, Gabriel, because I really liked how the flash made him the obvious focus of the picture and I like the rule of thirds.  The difficult part of this picture was that because he was first learning how to walk he was really, really wobbly and it was so dark so it was hard to get enough light into the picture.

Motion Demo Assignment

Motion Demo
~Best Picture~

From this demo, I learned how to pan with the image to get the desired picture. Also, I learned how to  use my skills from the previous weeks and change the shutter speed and aperture accordingly. I enjoyed this demo and I think the picture turned out well.

Photo Assignment #2 Black and White

~My Best Photo~
ISO: 200
Shutter Speed: 1/125
Aperture: F 7.1

This assignment was such a fun one. I got together with my friends Carolyn and Justin and we just started taking a bunch of pictures. This picture is my best because I really liked how the lighting made Justin really dark and the background much lighter. It really helps draw the attention to just him. It was very windy and cold that day but they still managed to look wonderful! The only not fun part was when I almost slipped into the creek. As funny as it would have been later, I was quite shaken.

Photoshop Car Assignment

BEFORE

AFTER

Photoshop Car Assignment:
For this assignment we were given a picture (taken by Noelle Jacobs) and we were supposed to edit and enhance it. My favorite thing I learned was how to adjust the levels. I think that it was great because it really just makes the picture that much better.  This was a great assignment and these skills will really help with my coming projects.

Inspirations for My First Assignment

I decided to do people for my first assignment. I was inspired by Magiej Zyglarski Photography. Especially this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/baddogdiabolo/5140522359/
I loved this picture because it really showed the love they feel for one another and they both look so happy. I love the darkness of the picture even though the subjects are smiling so big.
What I hope to capture is some genuine smiles and love just like this picture I was inspired by.

People Assignment #1

~My Best Photo~
ISO: 80
Shutter Speed: 1/50
Aperture: F 2.8

Summary:
For this assignment, I took pictures of my two friends Natalie and Rachel Dolbin. I had these sisters come over to my house and we went into the woods in my backyard and just took a bunch of random pictures. This one is my best because I captured them while they were genuinely smiling (which was very difficult to do) and I loved all of the trees surrounding them. The only thing that really made it difficult was that it was extremely cold. So other than our "frost bitten" hands, it was fun!
